Board Match: UNI's Board of Directors Matching Program

 

UNI Office of Community Engagement in partnership with the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley can assist faculty, staff and students in finding a nonprofit organization for which to serve on their board of directors. In addition, for nonprofit organizations seeking a university faculty, staff or student, a list of UNI individuals who have indicated interest in serving is available.

If interested, please follow the process below to be eligible and potentially matched. This only indicates your interest and does not obligate you or guarantee a match at this time.

Students:

Complete an application form to indicate your interest in serving on a board of directors for a nonprofit organization.

Attend an educational session on the responsibilities of serving on a board of directors.

Finalize your interest (complete a final form & submit resume)

Faculty/Staff:

Complete an application form to indicate your interest in serving on a board of directors for a nonprofit organization.

If necessary, attend an educational session on the responsibilities of serving on a board of directors.

Finalize your interest (complete a final form & submit resume)

Organizations:

Complete an application form to indicate your interest in having a UNI student, faculty, or staff serve on your board of directors.

Sign an agreement indicating your responsibility in the selection and invitation of UNI faculty, staff, or students. 

If a UNI faculty, staff, or student is matched: 

  • Share a Position Description for the role of board member
  • Provide a timeline for board member term
  • Provide onboarding/training for your new board member
  • Engage board member in conversation, decision making, committee structure as member of the board (clarify voting/non-voting member)
