Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley

The mission of the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley is to promote and support effective volunteerism and to serve as the resource and coordination center for volunteers and community partnerships.

Frederick Douglass Power Of Words Festival

Date: September 18 - 22, 2018 

Location: UNI Rod Library

Description: UNI will host the POWER OF WORDS social justice and human rights festival inside Rod Library honoring the birth and contribution of the premiere American human rights advocate of the nineteenth-century, Mr. Frederick Douglass (1818 - 1895).  We invite the UNI community to consider connections between contemporary human rights struggles and Frederick Douglass's work on behalf of nineteenth-century African Americans', women's and immigrants' rights. Electronics Recycling and Household Hazardous Materials Drop-off Event with WasteTrac Education Team

When: September 22, 2018

Time: 7:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Where: Cedar Falls Public Works Complex

Description: Volunteers (ages 18+) are needed for unloading electronics (computers, televisions, printers, etc), directing traffic, conducting surveys, shrink-wrapping, and helping unload household chemicals from residents vehicles.

Sack Lunch Event Food Preparation

When: September 25, 2018

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Description: Be ready for a fun time cooking up a storm and jamming to music in our kitchen! Volunteers will be able to help Emily, our Culinary Manager, prepare the food items that will go in our brown bag lunches for our Sack Lunch Event. One of our most popular fundraisers, area businesses can purchase bag lunches to be delivered to their business. Volunteers will be packaging buns, cookies, and pasta for the sack lunches.
