University of Northern Iowa Nonprofit Leadership Alliance

The University of Northern Iowa Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) is a student run organization dedicated to educating, preparing, and certifying professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations.  NLA is also a national alliance of 40 current colleges and universities universities, as well as countless nonprofit organizations that are committed to preparing undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals for careers with national and international nonprofit organizations.

During the past year, Business and Community Services (BCS) programs provided services to 1,300 unique business, community and local government clients in all 99 Iowa counties and beyond. Another 10,000 individuals were engaged in the MyEntre.Net entrepreneurial support system; more than 3,300 of those individuals were new to the system in 2011.

We continued our strong history of engaging the broader university community by involving 212 faculty members and more than 2,000 students in the delivery of those services. The vast majority of these students were undergraduates and their engagement in BCS outreach provide them experiential opportunities typically only achieved at the graduate level.
