Community Engagement Celebration Day Highlights

Event Schedule: 

9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. 

Stop by the Maucker Union Ballroom to see all the Community Engagement work of UNI faculty, staff, students, centers and partnerships! 

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. 

Spectrum Project performance followed by an awards ceremony! 

Award Categories: 

Service-Learning/Live Client Project Award (Curricular)

  • Project must be part of a course 
  • More than one project can be entered per course
  • Faculty, staff and/or students can showcase a project 

Student Organization/Student Group Project Award (Co/Extra-Curricular Activity)

  • Project is part of any student organization, association, or group
  • More than one project can be entered per group
  • Advisor and/or students can showcase project

Research-Based Project Award 

  • Project must be research-based
  • Project can be part of a course, internship, or co/extra-curricular activity
  • More than one project can be entered per person/group
  • Faculty, staff and/or students can showcase project

Social Justice Award (Theme-Based)

  • Project can be course-based, internship, or co/extra-curricular activity
  • Faculty, staff and/or students can showcase the project 
  • Project must address issues of social justice, diversity and/or inclusion

Sustainability and Environmental Awareness Award (Theme-Based)

  • Project can be course-based, internship, or co/extra-curricular activity
  • Faculty, staff and/or students can showcase the project
  • Project must address the issues of sustainability and/or environmental awareness

People's Choice Award 

  • On the day of the event, all attendees will be encouraged to vote on their favorite project 

Individual Student Project Award (Student's Only)

  • Project showcases a student's individual efforts and service to a community, local, or global
  • Project is not part of a course or student group
  • Project can be part of an internship

Commitment to Service Award (Faculty/Staff Only) 

  • Project is not part of a course or student group
  • Project showcases a faculty or staff person's individual efforts and service to a community, local or global

Please Note:

  • Individuals and groups can enter more than one project in the same category or different categories
  • Projects can be local to the Cedar Valley to global, highlighting service in another country 
  • Projects (curricular and co/extracurricular can date back to fall 2016)
